Did George W. Bush Save the World? A Conspiracy Theory

We’re all used to the media stories that place George W. Bush behind Adolph Hitler as the second most evil man in the world, and we’re used to the conspiracy theories that suggested that Bush tried to wipe various minority groups off the planet, but have we ever heard the conspiracy theory that he tried to save the world?

The conspiracy, like most conspiracies, begins with the Nazis. The Nazi regime, as we all know, was comprised of a dream team of destruction. One of the primary players of this team was a man named Dr. Josef Mengele. Mengele gained his infamous stature in history through experiments in Auschwitz concentration camps, but what many people don’t know is that Mengele began his career as an Anthropologist. In his anthropological studies, Mengele took human blood samples and viral samples to study the differences between the races. He visited Africa many times to study the black race and figure out the differentiation between the races to attempt to develop a race-specific plague.

As we all know, the Germans lost WWII. Their dream for world domination was over. Their dreams for wiping out races, religion, and aberrant behavior were over. They came close, however. A relatively small country (relative to space covered by Russia, the U.S., England, and France) nearly pulled off an unthinkable feat. How did they do it? Was it pure militaristic power, or was it a combination of science and militaristic maneuvering?

The U.S. needed to know, because a new threat arose from the ashes of WWII. Some would say that Russia was a problem before the war, and that the U.S. needed to pick from the least of two evils to defeat the threat presently before them.  Whatever the case, General George S. Patton’s ominous warning to Eisenhower about Russia came to fruition following the war in the form of a cold war.  The general sentiment at the time was that Josef Stalin had assisted us in defeating Germany, so we couldn’t turn around and attack them. They were becoming a problem however, and the U.S. decided that the scientific research conducted in Germany would assist them in defeating Russia. The initial pursuit in post war Germany was for the rocket and missile technology the Germans perfected in some cases and nearly perfected in others (some have said the Nazis were on the brink of discovering long range missile technology, but they didn’t quite achieve that goal by the end of the war). They were also in pursuit of their engineering designs of aircraft, medicines and electronics. The true jewel in the rough that was discovered, in the midst of this search, were the Nazi scientists. These were the minds that nearly won WWII for Nazi, Germany.

From the gathering of Nazi scientific information, it is theorized that the Americans discovered Nazi plans to manipulate the gene CCR5 Delta-32, a gene that is particularly strong in those of Northern European extraction. The strength of this gene is said to have provided immunity to The Plague that nearly wiped out much of Europe. It is also theorized that evolution, or natural selection, may have further strengthened this gene in Europeans as a result of The Plague. Whatever the case, this specific gene is said to be a receptor that allows for the onset of the human immunodeficiency virus or HIV among those with weaker CCR5 Delta-32 genes.

Some have said that all of Mengele’s anthropological efforts with blood and viral samples in Africa paid off in this regard, and that he found a susceptibility of the gene CCR5 Delta-32 among Africans. There is some evidence that suggests that this gene was used in concentration camps to discover the immunity factor among some and the susceptibility rate in others to the manipulation of the CCR5 Delta-32 gene. Some would suggest that manipulation of this gene fulfilled Mengele’s dream of wiping out races and behaviors that Mengele found detestable. I haven’t found any evidence that Mengele sought to eradicate homosexuals in this specific manner, but if he didn’t I think Mengele would consider their suffering a happy byproduct.

The original intent of bringing the scientists to America was to simply debrief them in the normal manner intelligence agencies debrief enemy combatants, and send them on their way. The extent of their knowledge overwhelmed the intelligence officials, and they considered it imprudent to send them back. What if their knowledge was collected and used by the Russians against America? The problem was these Nazis had horrible human rights violations listed on their record, and their visas were denied. The Americans feared losing these scientists, and probably the cold war as a result.

Enter Operation (or Project) Paperclip. Project Paperclip was a top secret agenda signed by President Harry Truman in 1945. The idea behind Project Paperclip was that America would use scientific information discovered in post-war Germany to defeat the Russians. The one problem was that Truman expressly forbade the use of Nazis. This problem was rectified by cleaning their Nazi records and listing them as non-threatening. This was done, it would appear, without Truman’s knowledge.

Up to this point, the theory seems credible. Americans ally with the Russians to defeat the Germans in the war, and the Americans then ally themselves with the Germans (their scientists at least) to defeat the Russians in the aftermath of the war. You side with the least evil of the moment to defeat the most evil adversary. It sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

Enter the Henry Kissinger report to the National Security Council in 1974. In this report, Kissinger warned that overpopulation of third world countries was the greatest threat to America. Kissinger talked about how overpopulation of third world countries was greatest threat to America. He talked about the correlations between creations of Banana Republics and the countries’ populations spinning out of control.  The only solution to Kissinger’s declarations in the report, say the theorists, is the depopulation of Africa. How would one depopulate a continent in a manner that didn’t involve war or mass genocide on a public scale? Well, the theorists say, Kissinger delivered this report in 1974, and the AIDS epidemic showed up in 1975.

Some have said that the AIDS explosion started in missionary hospitals in which needles were used and reused, and that the true explosion that occurred between 1976 and 1980 arose in Botswana, Zimbabwe, and South Africa where most of the richest natural resources (such as gold and diamonds) were, and that these former European colonies enriched their mother countries.  This implies that if these countries had not been depopulated, they may have used up many of the resources, and they may have discovered and kept the booty.

Enter George W. Bush. It has been said by the liberal luminaries Bob Geldof and Bono that Bush did more for Africa than any other U.S. President. None other than MSNBC praised Bush’s efforts (post Obama election of course). Geldof wrote in a Time magazine article that: “The Bush administration has saved millions of lives (in Africa).”  An assistant professor of Public Health at Columbia, Josh Ruxin, says: "The administration and Bush himself deserve a lot more credit than they received for getting this job done.”  Regardless, the personal opinions of these people, the Bush administration sent fifteen billion in 2003 to expand treatment, prevent, and support programs to twelve of the hardest hit African countries. The goal was to have three million people on AIDS drugs by 2005. They achieved that goal.

The important part of any conspiracy theory is to provide the story, give some of the facts, allow the readers to draw their own conclusions through some perpendicular lines and through some parallels, and then tie it all up in a conclusion that may seem improbable or plausible depending on the reader. If you see this piece as strictly partisan consider that the African AIDS explosion began in the Carter administration and ended in the George W. Bush administration. In this period, there were two Republican administrations and two Democrat. Were they privy to the same information that Bush was, and they selectively ignored the facts before them? Or is this simply a conspiracy theory where all the stars line up so conveniently that it makes for interesting reading and nothing more? Whatever the case, I find it delicious that the man the media has all but called the second worst man in history appears to have cleaned up what nearly two generations of American Presidents would not or could not.
